Problem 1045

A man’s stack earned 148000000. If these earnings represent 1.13 per share, how many shares of stack are there?

Solution:-

Let N equal the number of shares. If there earnings represent 1.13, than 148000000 equals the number of shares, N, multiplied by 1.13

Write the information in symbols.

148000000 = 1.13 N

Solve the equation. Divide both sides by 1.13

130973451.3 \approx N

Therefore, the man has 130973451.3 shares of stock.
