Problem 919

Find the circumference and area of the circle having the given diameter.

D = 15 cm

Solution:-

Recall the following formulas.

Diameter  = 2*radius

Circumference = 2 π radius

Area = π*radius^{2}

Substitute the diameter and radius into the formulas where appropriate.

Circumference =  2*3.14*7.5

=47.1 cm

Area = 3.14 * 7.5^{2}

=176.6 cm^{2}

The circumference is approximately 47.1 cm. The area is approximately 176.6 cm^{2}.
