Problem 888

Find y’ if y =  \frac{-18}{\sqrt[5]{x}}

Solution:-

Rewrite the denominator with a negative rational exponent.

y = -18x-1/5

Use the power rule to find the derivative of the function x-1/5

\frac{d}{dx} (x^{-1/5}) =\frac{-1}{5}(x^{-1/5 - 1})

= \frac{-1}{5}(x^{-6/5})

Multiply the derivative by the constant to find y’

y’ = -18(\frac{-1}{5}(x^{-6/5}))=  \frac{18}{5}x^{-6/5}
