Problem 467

The width of a rectangle is fixed at 22 cm. What lengths will makes the perimeter greater than 94 cm?

The length must be greater than ? cm.

Solution:-

Suppose length of rectangle is L

Perimetr of rectangle =2*(length+width)

According to question

94< 2*(L+22)

Divide both sides by 2

\frac{94}{2} < L+22

47 < L+22

Subtract 22 from both sides

47-22 < L+22-22

L > 25

So length must be greater than 25 cm
