Problem 430

Find the median of the following set of numbers.

52, 25, 55, 51, 67, 59

Solution:-

First arrange the values in ascending order which is given bellow

25, 51, 52, 55 , 59, 67

When the number of values of even then medain =avarge of \frac{n}{2}   th term  and (\frac{n}{2}   )+1 th term

Where n=number of terms

So here medain=[\frac{6}{2} + (\frac{6}{3}   )1]/2= (3 rd term+4 th term)/2

3 rd term is 52

4 th term is 55

Median= \frac{52 + 55}{2}  = 53\tfrac{1}{2}
