Problem 1131

Let U = {a, b, c, d, e, f}.

A = {c, e, f}.

List the members of each set, using set braces.

Solution:-

Complete of a set

The complement of  set A, symbolized by A’, is the set of all elements in the universal set that are not in A.

Set A’ contains all the elements of set U that are not in set A.

To find which elements are in A’, go through the elements in U to set if they’re also in A.

The element a for instance, is not in both seta A and U. Therefore, it is an element of set A’.

However, the element c is in both sets A and U. In the case c is not an element of A’.

The elements that are in set A’ are {a, b, d}.
