Solve linear inequalities with three parts
For some applications, it is necessary to work with an inequality such as
3 < x + 2 < 8,
where x + 2 is between 3 and 8. To solve this inequality, we subtract 2 from
each of the three parts of the inequality, giving
3 – 2 < x + 2 – 2 < 8 – 2
1 < x < 6.
