Find the distance between the given points

(-5 , 5) and (0 , 12)

Solution

formula for distance is when two point

(x₁,y₁)and (x₂,y₂)are given

distance= $\sqrt{(x_{2}-x_{1} )^{^{2}}+(y_{2}-y_{1})^{2}}$

put all values in this formula

distance= $\sqrt{(0-(5))^{2}+(12-5)^{2}}$

distance= $\sqrt{(5)^{2}+(7)^{2}}$

distance= $\sqrt{25+49}$

distance= $\sqrt{74}$

distance=8.60
