Problem 241

Problem 241

Use two points on any horizontal line to mathematically illustrate why a horizontal line has a slope of 0.

Solution

Suppose horizontal line is y = 4, so two points are (0,4) and (4,4)

slope=\frac{ y2-y1}{ x2-x1}

=\frac{ 4-4}{ 4-0}

=\frac{0}{4} = 0

Now we can see that slope is zero for a horizontal line.
